Within the context of several projects – notably the European MAX-R project and the VLAIO COOCK+ project DigiBuild – I’ve worked on large-area tracking for virtual and augmented reality applications. Within these projects the goal is to align large 3D models with their real-world counterpart, while tackling problems such as drift.
Within the MAX-R project this system was mainly used for artistic applications, while within DigiBuild we utilize large-scale tracking to align the BIM model of a structure with the structure itself (see link for video).
