With the Flanders Make XRTwin project, I investigate camera-based techniques to create a realistic virtual twin of large industrial environments, such as factory halls. During scanning, the normal processes in the factory halls should not be hindered. To make this possible, I study tracking methods for large spaces and techniques that enable scanning dynamic environments. On the other hand, I also investigate possibilities to improve new image-based rendering techniques such as Gaussian Splatting with the obtained data.
